Sep 23    Getting Your Employees Engaged
Trident United Way?s Corporate Volunteer Council is holding their Quarterly Meeting, ?Getting Your Employees Engaged,? on Tuesday, September 23 from 11:30 a.m. ? 1 p.m. at Trident United Way (6296 Rivers Ave., North Charleston). Being engaged keeps us together. Whether it's your family, friends, co-workers or employees, being connected allows us to feel a part of something. Hear how to turn that "something" into something meaningful. By taking the time to find ways to connect and give back, companies can build a culture of togetherness. There are a variety of ways to create cohesiveness, volunteerism and an overall sense of purpose within any organization. Hear from one local entrepreneur, Jessica Munday, President and founder of Trio Solutions, Inc., about her experience with creating what she considers the "best team in town." Complimentary lunch will be provided. Please register here for this free event: http://events.r20.constantcontact.com/register/event?llr=fe4id4bab&oeidk=a07e9qa74cp95ee8a16. Sep 24    Gardening Lunch and Learn

A Virtual Tour of the Public Gardens of the Medical University of South Carolina
By Noni Langford

The Medical University of South Carolina in downtown Charleston serves the state in many ways, but did you know MUSC has educational and ornamental gardens that are open to the public? Along with the gardens comes a garden staff. Their mission is to educate MUSC staff, students and the general public about the important role plants serve as tools for healing. They teach classes in the Urban Farm and provide tours of the 80 acre campus. There are over 25 flower beds throughout the campus. Just as urban life presents challenges to human health, the location of these gardens presents challenges to the health of trees, shrubs and flowers. Join Noni Langford for a virtual tour of MUSC's public gardens after which you'll want to visit the real thing.

Noni Langford is a 2011 Trident Tech Horticulture graduate and residential and landscape designer. She works at MUSC as Project Coordinator. Her primary areas of responsibility there are the Porcher Medicinal Garden, Urban Farm, Bee Structure, and Arboretum.  Her job includes designing new plantings and maintaining existing ornamental beds. Noni enjoys combining her skill and interest in residential design with horticulture in her work at MUSC .

Bring your lunch or a dish to share.
